![]() AUGUST 27, 2010 Navotas City Fire Incident Leaves 7,000 People Homeless Around 6:55pm last August 26, a fire incident took place in Navotas City, directly affecting 1,491 families from Navotas West and Sipac-Almacen areas. Reportedly, the cause of the fretful episode was gasoline fumes, from a nearby fisherman who was then transferring the supposed flammable liquid to another container, which accidentally got into flames—burning down a total of Php 10 million pesos worth of properties, and leaving 7,157 people homeless.
Immediately, Philippine Red Cross (PRC) dispatched its Navotas Sub-chapter, and Caloocan and Malabon Chapters to respond to the said occurrence. Apart from putting out the blazing fire, the PRC teams also rendered medical assistance to the victims who were hurt. Based on their recent report (as of 8 p.m., August 29, 2010), 11 were injured from the said incident; and unfortunately, 2 died.
Currently, there are three (3) evacuation centers within the area, namely: Bagumbayan Elementary School, Navotas Sports Complex and Navotas National High School.

JULY 18, 2010 PRC Navotas City Sub-chapter Celebrates its 1st Anniversary The Philippine Red Cross Navotas was founded last July 24, 2009. Come and join us as we celebrate our 1st anniversary in service with the theme "A Year of Service, A World of Difference". We will be conducting series of activities for one week as we celebrate this occasion starting on July 19, there will be a motorcade at 7:30am from the Rotary of Navotas Garden to Navotas Elementary School (Central) where the opening ceremony of this week-long anniversary celebration begin. The list of activities are as follows: BLS and First-Aid Training at Eusebio Ramos Hall, Navotas Elem. School on July 19-21, Simultaneous Feeding Program at Elementary Schools and Day care Centers on July 22, Recognition Day and 2nd Kick-Off Ceremonies at Gabaldon Hall, Club Filipino on July 23 and Health Symposium at Navotas Elem. JULY 12, 2010 PRC Navotas Render Medical Assistance to the Fire Victims The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Navotas City Subchapter,
together with the PRC Caloocan Chapter, deployed emergency response teams to a
fire incident at 46 Miguel St., North Bay Boulevard North in Navotas City on
July 11. The fire
started at around 10:45 p.m. due to an unattended lighted candle. The emergency
response teams provided medical and initial food assistance (biscuits) to the
fire victims. Six people were injured from the fire incident. These are Jeff
Apostol, 22; Eulalia Escobar, 57; Clarissa Latorre, 42; Jojo Ilustrisimo, 24;
Olimpio Escobar, 26; and Lilia Hapie, 52. About 287 families and 100 houses were
reported to have been affected and damaged from the fire. As of this writing,
six families are temporarily staying in an evacuation center established in the

![]() ^ PRC-Navotas distributing relief goods at SRV Sports Complex SEPTEMBER 3, 2010 Relief Good Operation on Navotas West Fire Victims Volunteers started the packing of relief goods on September 1, which includes 1 cooking oil, 5 canned goods, 12 packs of baby food, and a pack of biscuit. Each family will also receive 2 blankets, packs of clothing composed of two sets for each member (good for five – upper and lower), and a hygiene kit which contains 2 pieces of toothbrush, 13 soap bars, 4 sachets of shampoo, 2 pieces of toothpaste, a face towel and a bathroom tissue.Relief operation on September 3, 2010 served the following evacuation centers: • San Rafael Village Sports Complex – 155 families • Phase 1-C, NBBS Covered Court – 63 families • North Bay Boulevard North Covered Court – 134 families • Kapitbahayan, NBBS Covered Court – 71 families TOTAL = 421 Families
AUGUST 26, 2010 Red Cross Navotas Emergency Team on Navotas Fire Philippine Red Cross (Navotas City Sub-chapter) arrived at the site in coordination with the Caloocan and Malabon Chapters composed the Emergency Response team that had arrived at exactly 7:30 pm. The team provided appropriate interventions and first-aid on the victims. The lists of injured are as follows: Alfredo Estor, 62 years old, with multiple burns in the right forearm; Diosdada Troyo, 70 years old, burn on the right foot; Angel Nonoy, 6 years old, with abrasions on the left foot; Junior Jerusalem, 13 years old, with lesions on the head; Randic Bartina, 30 years old, with lesions on the right leg; Juanito Pascual, 28 years old, with lesions on the right leg; Artin Regino, 27 years old, with lesions on the left arm; Nora Deroyo a nd Lilian Panes with elevated blood pressure.
JULY 24, 2010 Health Symposium As a part of the Sub-Chapter's week-long celebration, PRC-Navotas conducted a mass education regarding Cigarette Smoking and Facts about Blood to the citizen of Navotas. It was held at Eusebio Ramos Hall, Navotas Elementary School Central last July 24, 2010 at 1:00 in the afternoon headed by the PRO of the Council of Advisers, Dr. Liberty C. Domingo. The goal of said health symposium is to promote the City's campaign regarding smoking cessation and to educate Navotenos and correct those misconceptions on blood donation. It was then participated by about 50 Navotenos.

![]() ^ Feeding Program at NBBN Elem. School JULY 22, 2010 Simultaneous Feeding Program A total of six places were chosen all over Navotas for the Simultaneous Feeding Program of the Philippine Red Cross Navotas City Sub-chapter. The nutritious "chicken sopas" and biscuits from Nissin Monde was distributed on children of about seven years of age. In the morning,Red Cross Navotas feed the children of North Bay Boulevard North Elementary School, Rotary Club of Navotas Garden, North Bay Boulevard North Health Center and Bagumbayan Elementary School, while in the afternoon were Bangkulasi Elementary School and Daanghari Elementary School.
JULY 19-21, 2010 Basic Life Support and First-Aid Training Philippine Red Cross Navotas City Sub-chapter conducted a Red Cross 143 project "Basic Life Support and First Aid Training" last July 19-21, 2010 as a part of the sub-chapter's week-long celebration. The 3-day training was held at the Eusebio Ramos Hall, Navotas Elementary School Central. A total of 29 representatives were gathered from the different barangays all throughout Navotas to participate on the said training. The purpose of the training is to educate Navotenos regarding proper actions in First-aid during disasters and accidents. It also aims to create a more mobilized Red Cross 143 teams for each barangay.
JULY 19, 2010 The Parade - Opening of the Sub-chapter's Anniversary A well-organized 2-kilometer parade of Philippine Red Cross Navotas Sub-chapter's Council of Advisers and volunteers together with the representatives from different barangays and students from elementary schools of Navotas was seen at M.Naval St., Navotas City, presently known as Honorio Lopez Boulevard last July 19, 2010 at around 8:00 in the morning. This signals the opening of the one-week celebration of the Navotas Sub-chapter's Anniversary.
